Now that we are able to put the long winter nights behind us we can look forward to the long, warm, balmy days of spring and summer. What better way to enjoy the benefits of the seasons than to visit Lyme Regis with all its character, history and charm.
Changes at the Royal Lion Hotel
During the winter period we have been busy at the Royal Lion Hotel. As with any building from the 1600's we have a need to constantly maintain the building so during the last three months the front of the hotel has benefited from re decoration and we have been replacing much of the roof - not glamorous but essential!
I took up my position of General Manager on the 23rd February and I am quickly familiarising myself with the members of the team, the building and the guests who have been staying with us. For the previous 4 years I was Operations Manager at the Royal Bath Hotel, Bournemouth and prior to that I was Resident Manager at the Rhinefield House Hotel, Brockenhurst, Hampshire. I am married to Sarah and we have a 10 month old daughter Emily.
We have also been joined at the Royal Lion Hotel by a new Head Chef, Delroy Budreham. Delroy is originally from Jamaica. He was previously employed at the Pedn Olva Hotel, Cornwall and before that at Dukes restaurant In Sidmouth. Delroy and his team will be constantly working to maintain and surpass the standards of food and service that has become synonymous with the hotel.
Lyme Regis
As Lyme Regis is at the heart of the Jurassic Coast there is much to see and do during your stay at the Royal Lion Hotel. Walk part (or all if you are energetic enough!!) of the Coastal Path, or just relax and watch the comings and goings in the picturesque harbour.
There are numerous events planned during the coming months, for up to date information on these follow the web link www.lymeregistourism.co.uk/events-guide.htm
22nd - 24th May Lyme Regis Fossil Festival - 'Evolution Rocks'
28th June Coast to Coast Motorcycle Run; Lyme Regis to Weston-Super-Mare
3rd - 5th July Jazz Festival
18th - 26th July RNLI Week
1st - 8th August Lyme Regis Regatta & Carnival Week
Christmas and New Year - and we haven't even enjoyed the summer!!!
It does seem a long way away but some of our guests are planning ahead and enquiring about our Christmas and New Year programmes already. To help them make their arrangements we have published our Christmas and New Year tariffs early so if you would like to celebrate in style with us this year bookings are currently being taken. If you would like to book a particular room please contact our reception team as soon as possible to avoid being disappointed.
Forthcoming Improvements
We are very conscious of maintaining the character of the Royal Lion Hotel whilst fulfilling the expectations of our guests and constantly seeking to improve the service we offer. Over the coming months we have plans to put flat screen televisions, Gilchrest and Soames toiletries and upgraded hospitality trays in all bedrooms, and new food and beverage offerings in the Royal Lion pub. In the coming weeks our newly created courtyard rooms will be fully operational, with a delightful, secluded alfresco patio area with flowers abound to relax and unwind from the hustle and bustle.
My team and I look forward to welcoming you to the Royal Lion Hotel, and if there is any particular requirement or questions you may have please feel free to contact me personally or one of my colleagues.
