Welcome to the Spring at the Royal Lion.
The sun is shining “well somewhere in the world anyway.”
Even in the rain or the snow you can still have a great
time with us.
With a pair of Wellingtons and an umbrella, for instance,
you can still search for fossils.
In the fossil shop opposite the hotel you will find Dr
Collin Dawes, who will guide you in the right direction
for fossils, or alternatively take you on a unique guided
tour.
For the energetic or enthusiastic there are numerous walks
inland and coastal. Some of which include a hike to the
top of the highest point on the south coast.
Why not get involved in a fishing trip catching fresh mackerel,
crab, shrimps, sea bass and sea bream, or you can hire your
own boat and explore the Jurassic coast.
If you like to get out and about there is a reliable coast
line bus which runs from Weymouth to Exeter stopping off
at all local seaside towns. These include Abbortsbury, Bridport,
Westbay, Charmouth, Lyme Regis, Seaton, Beer, Sidford then
on to Exeter.
All of these towns have various events happening throughout
the Summer season.
Events happening in Lyme Regis include The Jazz Festival
4th -6th July 2008, Lifeboat Week which takes place from
26th July 2008 which last year the excitement included the
Red Arrows, the RAF aerobatic display team, the Blue Eagles
helicopter flying display and the “Falcons”
parachute team, or come down to earth with bump yourself
and take part in a yard of ale drinking contest.
There are also plenty of activities for the children, such
as duck racing, a tug of war and sandcastle building contests.
Regatta and Carnival Week Starts on the 3rd of August and
includes events like open air cinema, pavement drawing contests
and live music.
